WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE FOR THE BOOK:
How to be a GREAT DIVORCED DAD

SO WHY WAS THE BOOK WRITTEN?

Going through a divorce can be a tough and gruelling experience.
It can be expensive and emotionally and physically draining, and everyone - from your
former wife to your children and your friends - will feel the effects of
the event. In the UK, for example, hundreds of thousands of couples are
divorced and more than 170,000 divorces occur each year, so you are not
alone - even though it might feel that way when you are lying awake in the
middle of the night missing your children, or trying to figure why you and
your ex-wife cannot move on.

The thing to remember is that once the divorce is over and the custody
arrangements have been agreed, your new, positive life with your children
begins. That is what this book is all about: looking forward and making you
the best possible divorced dad you can be. If you are going to be a great
divorced dad, you have to look on this next chapter of your life as the
chance to create a new life, a new home, a positive, healthy relationship
with your children and, all being well, a new working relationship with
your former wife.

It is not going to be easy. You will make some mistakes, things may be
tight financially and you may have trouble adapting to a new life as a
single man with children, but remember that you are not alone and you are
doing it for your children.

Whether you are awarded full residency, shared residency or contact rights
when you divorce, you still have to create a suitable home and life for
your children when they are with you. Whether you see then for just a few
days a month or half of every week, you have to be ready to handle a whole
range of situations that you and your former wife would have shared. Now it
is just you.

For some fathers, creating a new life in a new home with the children when
they are with you will come easily; for others it will be harder, and for
some of you it will be the biggest challenge of your life! That is why I
wrote this book: as a guide to help you answer those questions that have
been bugging you; to help you realise there are no stupid questions when it
comes to caring for your children; and to help you learn to do the tasks
that perhaps your previous partner did and that you were unaware of but you
are now responsible for when your children are with you.

You and your children are about to embark on an adventure that, if done
correctly, in most cases changes the relationship you have with your
children, helping you and them bond at a new and more positive level. Above
all, they must know that you love them, care for them and will always be
there for them.

It is also important to remember at the outset that while you may feel as
though you will be in divorce and post-divorce hell for the rest of your
life, you won't. Take it from me: it is a phase and you will get through it
and move on by putting the children first, committing to a businesslike
approach with your ex, and learning to be a great divorced dad.

That's why the book HOW TO BE A GREAT DIVORCED DAD was written.
